I have a cottage on Magician. I've never fished any of the other lakes, but I have partied multiple times on big crooked and never saw anyone fishing it. At magician I've caught some decent largies, pathetic little perch and crappie, a bunch of gar and a bunch of skinny about 20incher pike. About ten years ago we caught a few small walleye, but havent since (Also don't fish there much anymore, maybe once a year on a good year). Whats your largest pike from Magician? I think my groups PB is like 34"
Round lake is good for some big largies if your willing to put in the time, and ive also seen a couple muskies but never anything over 35 inches though ive heard of 40 class fish coming out of there,
Big Crooked has huge populations of bass crappie and bluegill, only problem is they all seem to be tiny so ive given up on that lake.
Magician is a hidden treasure. In the summer months dont waste your time, the boat traffic is just to heavy for fisherman to have a real shot at trophy fish. but when she freezes over its time to party, last winter me and the guy i fish it with took easily over 50 crappies all over 10 inches with a few 15 + inchers coming out. The pike population in that lake is absolutely out of this world. ive actually had numerous occasions of being bitten off when ive hooked into bluegills and crappie they will eat them right of your line. the problem is that if you dont know where to be its a tough place to fish. not to much structure and the whole lake is weeds its a matter of finding the right depth and you can see some beatiful fish. 20 + largies, 40 + northerns, and even 18 inch jumbo perch
Hope this helps you out, it really is a great area to fish if your willing to work a bit or if you enjoy the ice as much as me.
