has there been a final decision on hunting by the board?
No, a final decision has not yet been made.
At its May meeting, the Operations Committee of the Board of Commissioners took several votes on elements of the Deer Management Plan:
1) By a vote of 6-4, they approved a public hunting option to the Deer Management Plan.
2) By a vote of 10-0, they chose to remove bow hunting from a public hunting option.
3) By a vote of 6-4, they approved the use of shotguns as a public hunting option.
4) By a vote of 9-0-1 (one abstention), they approved the use of sharpshooters as part of the plan.
The committee requested additional information from staff for its June meeting. The committee meets on June 2, and if they make a recommendation on the Deer Management Plan, the Board of Commissioners will likely vote on the entire plan at its June meeting on Thursday, June 10.
We will post all updates on the Deer Management Plan as soon as possible. I recommend you visit our Web site, ReconnectWithNature.org, in the days following June 10.
if it aint fun, you shouldn't be fishing!
