Default Camping near the Missisippi River

I used to camp there every year (20+ years ago) but haven't been there since. We used to always go to the Savana area and camp at the state park.
We will be going for a 3 day weekend next week and plan to do mostly casual shore fishing for cats, carp or what ever else we come across. Big cats or carp would be a nice treat.
Does anyone have any recommendations on camp sites or general fishing areas with camping near by?

Thanks in advance.

I used to camp out that way too... It was South of Savanna on Spring Lake... It's been years for me too but it might still be there.. It was called Winters Spring Lake resort... Right across the road from a tiny 1 strip airport...

Cool, thanks. I check it out.

Just add, we prefer primitive campsites. Not opposed to having others nearby, just don't like the state park regulations (even though we are quiet, never bother anyone or cause problems). Camping at a State Park "like Rock Cut" feels kinda like a "canned hunt".
