Mazonia, N & S 5/ 4 thru 5/19

Postby localyokal » Wed May 23, 2012 7:31 pm

May has been a very busy month for me. Not getting out as much as I had hoped to , but still getting out every weekend. Just been too busy to post. Been a good month, getting at least one nice hog and several good fish every time out. A little bit of everything has been working with the Kreature bait fished on a plain 1/16 oz owner jig hook getting the edge on both big fish and numbers, but a weightless Senko, soft bodied swim bait and the spinner bait have all taken some nice fish. Frog bite has been slow for me but buzz bait has been producing some nice medium sized fish (13” – 16”) Almost everytime out they seemed to be hitting on something different. Bass have pretty much finished their thing and gills are bedding everywhere right now. Off to Kickapoo this weekend.

Some pics of this month’s better fish.

Clear Lake 5/4. Lots of dinks and one good fish. Morning bite was slow but picked up after 10:00 am

Tube fished in the N Unit 5/11. Fished two ponds. Around 35, 11" to 15", bass mostly swimming a creature bait.

Fished in the S unit, Wilderness Area on 5/12. Only Ok for numbers but real decent for average size. Most fish were in the 14" to 16" range. I had a huge bass take a swipe at an eleven inch bass I had hooked and Kevin boated this 5 lb + bass and a huge crappie on a soft plastic swim bait.

Tube fished a couple of lakes in the S Unit on 5/19. Real decent day for decent sized fish. I lipped 36 bass with 6 over 16", a 17" 18 1/2", 19" and a 22" hog. Jim also got several 16' bass, a 17" and a nice 20 incher. Caught fish on everything today. Kreature bait, weigtless Senko, Spinner Bait, Frog, Buzz Bait, Swim Senko.

Way to go, some very impressive fish there and a good report too. Also, good to see you back on the Mazonia forum, I was wondering if you had been fishing there alot still. I haven't been getting out as much as early in the year. Any weight on that 22"? 6-7 lbs maybe?
Wishin' I was fishin'
