Mazonia N 6-2 & 6-3

Postby Bassin87 » Mon Jun 04, 2012 11:30 pm

Bass seemed to be biting very well this last weekend. The cold rain knocked water temps into the upper 60's and lower seventies. Frog bite was almost non-existent, two or three shorties in two days. Had a couple big swirls behind it but that was it. Spinners working ok, landing a few shorties as well. Didn't do a whole lot of jig fishing. When I did I was swimming a white one to mimic shad but came up empty. Pretty much everything else was on plastics. Weighted and weightless both worked well at times. Not going into all our favorite plastics and I'm sure everyone has their own. If your favorite isn't working, simply changing the profile of the bait is key in my eyes. Saturday numbers were high and I was hitting em in rapid succession and then it would slow for a while. 3 keepers Saturday. One almost 3# and two 1.5#. Bigbassmax reported catching 20 with three keepers Saturday as well. Unsure what he was using. Sunday numbers were lower and we only got two keepers. One 3# and one 2#. Also Max reported less numbers but sent me a pic of him with a nice 3 pounder. All fish were caught and released in Mazonia N after a quick pic of the bigger ones. Hope this was helpful to someone maybe unfimiliar with Mazonia or fishing in general. I'm just killing time at work lol. Good luck to all, maybe a report next weekend but may be too busy to fish so we'll see...

Nice report.

We fished Mazonia N on Sunday. Got out there about 8am, fished until maybe 130. We had a rough day. Threw everything but the kitchen sink at them, and managed 4 bass total. All on spinnerbaits and plastics. Didn't measure or weigh any, but I'd say all 1-1.5 lbers.

What's the size limit there for a fish to be considered legal? The ones we caught were probably 12-13 inches.

Saw one guy in a nice fiberglass boat catch a 2.5-3lber tho, nice fish.

Personally, I have no use for keeping bass and I always catch and release them. Would love to catch a 22" bass though

I agree, what a rush. I've caught bass over 22" just not at Mazonia this year. Biggest was only 21" out there this year. Got one about 24" at my dads pond in Missouri on a Jerkbait in march though. Well put, a rush you'll never forget
