Trout Stocking Petition

Postby bassman815 » Thu Apr 08, 2010 11:35 pm

We are trying to get some names on our petition to get more Rainbow Trout stocked in our local lake in the Rockford area. Every name counts so If you could take a minute to sign it, it would be appreciated. Thanks

I'd rather that my fishing license, and other fees, went towards sustainable fisheries and ecological support rather than a two week fish-in-a-barrel-meat-hunt.

Start a petition to improve Rock River habitat, access, and CPO presence, and I'll sign that one.

-And I don't even fish the Rock River.
In light of the fact that the earth is 2/3 water and 1/3 land, it is clear that our time should be divided. 2/3 fishing and 1/3 work.

The Rock River has actually improved over the last few years. They stocked around 750,000 fish (small mouth & large mouth bass, walleyes, northerns, channel cats, and flat heads) just in the Rockford area last summer and plans this year to stock another 250,000. It isn't the greatest fishery but its getting better every year.

Another reason we want Four Lakes to be stocked with trout is to give the kids more of a chance to enjoy fishing and get more involved. Maybe instead of opening the Fall Catchabel Trout Season at Four lakes to everyone, just open it to kids that day. They do something like that In Wisconsin every year. I want to say the name of the pond is little muskego or something of that nature. I would rather see kids get a chance to catch the trout instead of adults.
