[The Bassassin]

made it out to one of the backwater areas for about an hour. honestly, it was probably the only fishable spot we know of in the wilmington area. There were large numbers of minnows, looked like both shad and bass minnows, and the largemouth kept breaking the surface in pursuit.
It was actually kinda funny. We'd wait to see the small minnows break th surface as they tried to scurry away, drop our lure in the middle of the mayhem, and land one. We caught about 4-5 nice 14-16 inchers, all released.

Made it back out here yesterday. Yes, it was hot and sunny, but I had to get away from the home projects for a few hours! I tried one of the creeks first. Still high, and there were already three cars there. Stopped by Miliken lake also. Water looks high. I've never had much luck there other than with minnows, so i quickly moved on.

Anyways, despite the heat and sun, fish were breaking the surface everywhere. some seemed to be quite large, but couldnt land any. I missed a couple on a popper, no takers on spinners or cranks, and finally landed 2 and lost 3 on wacky rigged senkos and on flukes. I couldnt take the sun anymore, so I called it a day...
