EHD is a gnat that bites white tail deer and kills it in about a week. There has been 11 counted that i know of and im sure MANY more. The DNR tested a couple deer in the area and they tested positive. Its the hot wet summer were having is causing the gnat. i was just reading about the gnat on the dnr website and it said its the dry weather but thats not what i was told? any body seen any dead deer around? they say they die near water holes.. lets hope it just thins out some of the does. It could possible wipe out an entire county if we get it bad enough. Cross your fingers.....
Epizootic hemorrhagic disease (EHD) is an acute, infectious, often fatal viral disease of some wild ruminants.
It is transmitted though bites from flies or gnats.
The result is the same and with our deer-crowded preserves and forests, it can spread fast.
