Thinking about hitting Everts in Bay City, but schedule is unclear and they don't allow dogs...

My dad owned a house in Wabasha for 35 years. Had to sell it 3 years ago when he passed away. Broke my heart to do it. I know pool 4 like the back of my hand. Bay City is good in spring when water is up. Crankbait troll is hot as well as 3 ways with floating jig and leeches. Salivating just thinking about it.

I didn't realize until just now there is a Lake Pepin forum on here...my family has been fishing there since the 50's and I was just up there Memorial Day weekend. I always stay on the Wisconsin side in Pepin directly. We did really well...not sure if you went already or not, but good luck...we ushually make 3-4 trips a year up there.

Just got back today. Caught SEVERAL saugers. The fish I did keep were 18-21 inchers. Gills were in Pepin harbor and backwaters. Caught 5 gills that were right on the 11 inch size during the 3 day house cleaning. Water was high but you had to search to get them. Brought home gills and saugers. Walleye were all shorts and I did not waste time looking for the bigger specimens. I will have pics downloaded on my website in about a week. The crappie I caught trolling shadraps were all in access of 16 inches. Not a lot of them but they were a nice bonus. Give the folks at Camp Lacupolis a call to book a stay. They are friendly and very reasonable. I had a cabin with king, double bed, full kitchen, a/c and satellite tv for $79/night. Guided a guy on Monday on Pepin. In 2 hours we had 12 sauger (all over 17 inches), 3 northern pike, 4 crappies and 3 honker (17 inch white bass). Caught all fish trolling cranks at various depths and colors. Green (char) was good in am and switched to gold and blue/white combo during mid am.

Nice report...

When you say Pepin Harbor are you refering to the "marina" in Pepin, Wisconsin directly? If so that is by where we always stay and go out of. The restaurant right there the Pickle Factory is right where used to camp where the fish cleaning station and free public boat launch is there. Now we stay at the Great River Amish Inn in Pepin for $65 a night (hotel 3 blks from marina on main drag). But next time you are there be sure to troll around the Pepin marina walls, you can nail some killer northern and walleye there, and if you worj the walls get crappie and white bass all day long. Sometimes we don't even take a boat up there and just fish the walls and get our daily limits right off of them. Just an FYI...

We were at Pepin this spring. We caught some walleye and sauger and saw some huge catfish. What a great place.
