To tell you the truth. To make a long story short I had a friend who lived in north central Nebraska. Along the South Dakota border. He used to run birds dogs on this cattle ranch (25,000 acres). The rancher would at this time of year hunted coyotes with his greyhounds. I always wanted to do that. Just could not work it out to be out there then. The rancher said it was pretty spectacular to watch a 80 lb. greyhound run down a coyote and take him down in one swip going 50 mph.
So to answer the question, NO I don't have a problem hunting coyotes.

In the interest of fairness, here is an article posted today on Yahoo about urban coyote populations and some of the problems stemming from them.

Interesting...seems to contradict much of what was stated here. I see a resurgence in the near future.

Like everything on the internet, take it with a grain of salt. The one point I really agree on though, is populations cannot be eradicated, no matter how many are killed. In a sense they are a bigger version of a rat. You could argue that shooting them puts a fear into them and causes them to stay away from certain areas though.

I agree with that assessment, except for the fact that the dead one's can't go back and notify their friends - assuming the shooter was a good shot. Maybe they could be hung up in the town square for all to see
