Any Experience Carving Minnow Plugs?

Postby Little Cleo Dancer » Sat Aug 01, 2009 6:34 am

I have the whittling bug and, having carved a few crude Easter Island statuettes, would now like to try making a wooden minnow plug. I noticed WoodCraft had baggies put together with plugs of basswood and Spanish cedar specifically for this purpose. But ... I've never encountered anyone with any interest or experience in actually making a plug by hand. Any stories or tips are appreciated.

Thanks,

Ted

I had the bug a few years ago, bought carving tools and a lathe.......still in the garage. Maybe I will try again, I always wanted to do this. I have a few ideas on lures to make.......maybe this winter.
