Have been going up to the fox lately and have been doing really well on the cats. Three nights ago caught about 15 all over 5 pounds with some pushing the 10-15 pound mark. No Flatheads this time (although the other times I've been out caught some that were 33-40 inches). All were caught on bluegills.
i would say 80% of the fish this year were channel catfish, mostly on live bluegill. I have some pics of some of the channels but don't really know how to post them. PM your email and I can try to send some of them, although I am going out of town for a week so it might take some time.
thats okay with the pics took me a while to learn how to post but once i did its not that hard. there is a thread that explains it. you basically have to load them on a site like photobucket once they are one their its just higlight and boom they show up on your post. let me know if your ever in Aurora area, check out my posts in catfish thread called 37 and 41 inch flathead, maybe we can hook up
I just cooked up that nice 28 incher for the family, it got raves. I don't eat fish, I just catch 'em and (once in a blue moon)cook 'em. You know I'm CnR, maybe once a year I'll bring one home.
I don't know if a flattie is good eating, I'm sure there are opinions to be provided. I'd just throw that ugly beast back. Especially if there are eating-sized bluegill available.
I know a couple of guys who regularly eat flatties from the Fox and the Vermillion, they both claim it's the best eating fish from those rivers.
I myself don't eat much fish.
Any married man should forget his mistakes. No sense two people remembering the same thing.

I guess your buddies dont like eating walleyes because they are sure missing out. I've tried a small flat before around 5-6lbs and it was nasty. Cats have a really muddy taste. Crappies and walleyes are the only species I will eat out of the fox.
the park ponds in the city are pretty clean, they are all supplied by lake water and get no chemical runoff, as the Chicago Park District doesn't use any on the grass. There may be some trash, but pop cans and Frito bags don't add the ugly stuff to the water that tend to find their way into other waters... like the Duper or others that could be named. So, if you want eatin' cats, head for Columbus, Washington, or Marquette Parks!
