I looked into those, they were only two hour trips. The local guides offer a half day trip outside the park for the same price. How was the Disney guided trip, any good bass?
The Kissamee chain (Lake Toho, etc.) is just south of Orlando. I believe they set a BASS 1 day and 4 day weight record 2 years ago at the Bassmaster classic. I haven't been down their fishing but I'm planning a trip in Feb. or March to try and hit the spawn. Lake Toho consistantly produces large fish. I'm not endorsing this guide service but it gives some info about fishing the lake.
As for the Disney guided trip, it was February when we were there. I tagged along, as my wife had a business seminar there. But just my luck, I brought Orlando's version of Chicago weather with me. Cold and rainy the day I was scheduled. Even the guide was cold and sad for me!
I was pleasantly surprised do see that the guide was a cute lady! In the interest of full disclosure: However, not near as cute as my wife! The guide lady was able to hook a couple of bass on plastics but the bite was very light, so I just didn't have the touch to get any myself. The guide really tried to put me on some fish to no avail.
Two side notes on Disney fishing: I asked the guide when I would see her name in the winner's circle in a tournament. She told me that she was ineligible to fish in the main ladies tournaments because they are sponsored by ESPN, and since Disney and ESPN are under the same corporate umbrella, she could not fish them because she is an employee. To which she then added sadly: "And as you can see today, in fishing, being an employee is no guarantee of success, even in my home lake." She did fish in differently sponsored events, but they don't have the payouts of the ESPN events.
The other Disney observation, Try fishing from shore in one the lakes in the park, and watch how fast the floating security guard spots you with his binoculars then motors up and shags you outta there! Not that it happened to me or anything...!
We can't all be big shots. Someone has to sit on the curb and wave at 'em as they go by.
I ended up with Steve from http://www.laketohoguide.com/default.htm Unfortunately our trip date turned into near record low temps for the area.
The guide said the water temp dropped 14 degrees in the last three days, its a very shallow lake.
He managed to put us on some fish anyway, nothing big though.
We ended up with about 25 bass ranging from a few dinks 10 to 12", most were in the 18" range. Best of the day, by my son of course, shown below.
We had several other guides stop by to see how we were doing, all of them were doing poorly, 1-2 fish average.
So I guess we faired well.
If I get a chance to go back I would definitely use this guy again.

At least you didn't get the skunk. I just confirmed reservations for myself and my son for the week of Feb. 28th. If we can't find our own fish I will give Steve a call.
Is "basstiality" the same as sleeping with the fishes?
