Mazonia done for 2010

Postby Drakebuster » Wed Dec 08, 2010 1:31 pm

DNR wasn't letting guys out there today, just 21 blind (walk to) and we managed to have them let us go out. Launched by 545 and had to break ice to the blind and around it for an hour. All the ice was between 2-3" so looks like Mazonia is done for the year.
Lots of decoys gonna be lost this year. 30 had a big spread out and from the looks of the ice down there they are staying till thaw. Ice was completely snow covered in the shallow bays. 31 also had decoys out still, hope everyone else managed to get theirs out!

;) I was waiting for YOU to say that

Had a group of 10-12 Mallards swing wide early, 1 quack and chuckle brought them right towards the open water. Had to work them for a few minutes but 2 broke off and set coming in. Before I could tell my buddy not to shoot cause the others just set their wings, he fired 3 shots and dropped the 2 drakes. I didn't have a chance to shoot. Doesn't really matter to much, I love to work ducks into the deeks anyway. Had a shot at 3 redheads, Imissed Had a good time for the last day, and ate well, at that we bid goodbye to pondo till spring.

From here on out it'll be hunt them in my fields or watch them on TV

Got out yesterday with Tubes to our spot and had to break quite a bit of ice up to 2". Hope to get out Firday but thinking Monday and Tuesday I am going to to have to hit the rivers. Didnt have too many birds, but I did get my first golden eye, and wound up with a pair that I have in the freeze to get mounted
