Fishing in or around Belvidere?

Postby Bossofbeefbowl » Fri Mar 18, 2011 3:48 pm

Anyone know of any local ponds around this area,or if there is a place to fish from the shore of the Kishwaukee in Belvidere?

I fished Spencer Park a few times last summer and caught some small bass and plenty of gills. What about the lake in the back area, the one in the middle? Doesn't look very accessible but has anyone had any luck there?

Is Baumann park worth trying out?

I'm gonna give Spencer Park a try on Monday.I'm guessing at the very least the small pond should be thawed out.

Rock Cut State Park is a little further west of there off I90
Is "basstiality" the same as sleeping with the fishes?

I know that you can't use live bait in bauman park. The water there is very clear.Saw lot of big bass but no luck. You can fish Kishwauke from park .Check the deep hole under the railroad bridge.Good luck.

I fished spencer yesterday .Walked to the back pond a long walk but very nice body of water. There was alot of northerns swimming the shore line along with tons of bait fish. That was the first time i fished it and had no luck! But i will go back! The river in park has very go fishing for smallies and northerns. But the water is a little on the high side .Before the rain people catching northerns on big minnows on a slip bobber!

yeah i've been looking for places to fish here in belvidere also. i fished that spencer park for bass and never got anything. i recently saw those back lakes and been wanting to fish those. The wather looks really clear from up top and there is also a fishing pier on the one side.

I went to the Distillery Rd. Forest Preserve to fish the Kish. The forest preserve district dropped a bunch of chunk rock in the river to stop the shore erosion. Looks like the slack areas might hold some fish. I didn't catch any there today. Water was crystal clear and the bright sun didn't help.
