Waukegan 7/5

Postby CaptainKen » Wed Jul 06, 2011 4:54 pm

Went out at 3:30 aboard Suits Optional. 2 of us fishing.
Worked from in front of harbor to in front of Great Lakes.
Started in 80 FOW and ended up in 100 FOW. Orange and coho killer size fly and also orange and top-secret old-school white squid were HOT!!!
All dodgers had to be orange - either 00 size or normal size one.
Caught one on an Agent Orange spoon on 10 colors of lead core.
All rigger fish at 40 ft down.
All dipsey or slide fish were about 60-75 feet out set about 2.5-3.0
Surface planer board/00 dodger and fly was only thing that was never touched.
Probably about 16 hits, boated 10, let 2 smallish ones go, kept 8 GOOD fish. 1 king, 7 coho -FAT ones.

I was out last night. 4:30 to 9pm.

Fire drill on a 6 rod spread at about 6:30pm in 52 fow just a bit north of Great Lakes. Dipsies and lead with Flashers/Flies, Dodgers/Flies, Spin Doctors/flies, and a mag spoon on 7 color all fired off in one flurry. No marks on the graph, lost all but 2 fish due to tackle issues.

Fished my spread from 20 to 40 down.

Kicker fish was a 12 lb. king that ate a Glow Deep Thunderstick behind a 2oz. Divebomb at 8:30pm on our way back to harbor in 45 fow.

I dumped about $100 worth of gear into the lake last night due to equipment malfunctions and I'm not happy about it. I'm gonna need a second job if this keeps up... :)11
