DuPage River Flathead

Postby Fonzie » Sun Jul 10, 2011 11:46 am

My BIL sent me this pic of his Son who caught this cat out of the DuPage.
It seems awfully big for a 'Duper fish, but since his Son lives right by the river I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.

Lo the angler. He riseth in the morning and upsetteth the whole household. Mighty are his preparations. He goeth forth with great hope in his heart and when the day is far spent, he returneth, smelling of strong drink, and the truth is not in him.

atsa big 'un. I'm betting that's the south end of the river? It'd be a dam all by itself on some spots up north.

The guy lives way down South by Will county.

Looks like he hogged (pulled it out of a hole by hand) it; never had the stones to attempt that! I'll take mine by rod and reel thank you. Nice flatcat for a small river none the less!

Even in the south stretches of the Duper, there are few very spots where a giant like this could seek shelter. This is also the first report I have ever heard of any Flatheads in the Duper, and its obviously been around a while! Buuuut then again... I never would have believed a Musky to be caught in the Duper, if I didnt see it with my own eyes. (last spring) :o

My guess, is somewhere around Channahon where the Kanankee, Des Plaines, and Dupage all meet. For as low as that water looks, it seems pretty stained for the Dupage.

Regardless of where it was caught, that is a heckuva fish!
