The ditch

Postby HAUS » Sun Jun 24, 2012 10:42 pm

The ditch was hot the last 3 days giving up liimts of jumbos all three days Two days in water less than 10 foot and with no live bait . And yes Ace him self was there with a boat load of customers . Saturday all fish came from deeper water and on minnows . All three day saw extreme fishing pressure. So I went east yeasterday to check out some spots that where just as good or better . Thinks are just starting to get hot cant wait for more south winds .

I believe it's in reference to Burns Ditch, which ia a man made watershed outflow into the lake by Burns Harbor...

I was thinking he meant Black Ditch out of Michigan City, IN. It is near Dune Acres and always a consistent Perch producer when they descend upon the southern tip of the lake.

Back out this morning at day light ,banged 10 fish right of the bat . then nothing , worked the out side of the boat packout side the mouth of the ditch with only a couple of dinks to show for my efforts .Went east to dunes state park and worked the edge of 25-35ft water and added 3 to my total . Headed for the lanch ramp and got loaded by 11:30 am ,got home and put Buckin Fin away and the skys came unglued . I wonder how many boaters got beat up by those nasty storms ?

Tough day yesterday only 6 keepers . Worked the are out front of the state park with everyone else but no takers . So back to ditch after checking out some other spots . Other than all the boat traffic due to the air show wasnt a bad day after the wind switched frpm the north AND THE BITE WAS DONE . Hoping the weather change will do the lake some good .

Fished saturday and sunday way east, Limits both days of jumbos . Had to work for them larger fish are scattered ,Best marks where 36 feet of water . Perch are well feed and packed full of minnows and it takes some coaching to get them to strike .A couple of more of these hot days and they will all disappear . Back out tommarrow have domestic chores today .

On the lake today just finished cleaning a limit of perch . Yet way east worked an area of rocks in 36ft. And banked up some 10 and 12 inchers perfect for the deep fry with some fresh sweet corn . Perch still well feed and had to weed through the small fish and when the wind layed down the heat came up and fish shut off . So I headed back to the ditch . One more vacation day left but I think the lakes going to roar with some north winds . Sucks I might have to mow the grass . Havnt heard much from any one ? Is any one been out ??????????
