Wound up calling in sick on Tues
Walked up and down the shoreline in St.Charles catching dinks on my black twister tail.
Terry caught a bunch on an impossible to find color rattletrap.

Thats not a bill lewis lure, its a rapala "rattlinrap" and its the shad color, available just about anywhere. I had good luck on a jointed shadrap size #5 last year and last week. It comes in that color too. But the Craw with red is the $ bait. I have found one that is shad with a red and yellow stripe along its side too and it worked even better. At times thought, the baits with the chartreuse bodies can be hard to beat.
Great catch, way to go

Good Call Tony My bad
I think alot of guys refer to "lipless cranks" as rattletraps regardless of brand, kinda like calling tissue paper "Kleenex"
Just bought the last one in that size from GAT.

Your right, everyone calls them rattle traps, guilty myself. I would hate to see "someone" not find it looking in the wrong section is all. Besides the Jointed shad raps I have had good luck with a firetiger Big O in the second to largest size. Add suspenddots for more fun...for this time of year anyway.
I have always caught my biggest Illinois bass using "rattletraps" at ice out in feb and march. 22" seems to be my breaking point, many that size and never a hair bigger. Works all over where bass live and the waters cold. Feels like a freight train stopped it.
I have a question for you Fox smallie spinnerbait throwers, whats your favorite size and blade configuration/colors? What water temps do you find favorable for a spinner bait bite? Favorite technique? Please????
Thanks in advance.
Later,
Luke Ice Walker

That color rattle trap comes as a bonus with the Rapala PC Game.

Luke; I don't know about spinner baits, but I do have good luck with 1/4 oz. buzz baits with black skirt. I reel them in at a fast pace so they are on top or the water or just slightly under the surface. I generally cast them parallel to the shore and also close to the shore. BTW you sure picked a nice date for that evening with as Darth mentioned "The Phat Girl" I don't know about her Grandma, but maybe she has a sister that loves "fast food"
