I used to chum with corn and then use the corn fly. I seldom do this anymore. Buggers, nymphs and
spiders have worked just as well. Catching carp in a shallow river is very challenging. You really have
to be stealth-like. Getting into the right position to present the fly is half the battle. Basically, it
is a lot like spring creek fishing for trout. Sneak up on them, stay low, not too much false casting, and
get a good drift. They also need to be in the eating mood, or none of this matters.
