Cabela's rods aren't too bad, though I don't know if you can even get into one for $100. For serious salmon you're going to need an 8-10 weight rod--probably the heavier the better since you aren't an experienced caster.
Which brings me to an unasked-for suggestion: salmon fishing and heavy-weight fly rods may be a tough way to get introduced to fly fishing. Maybe sometime you could borrow a 4-6 weight rod and try fishing for panfish/bass,etc. as a tune-up. I think if you get used to the lighter fly rods then the heavy ones may not be such a chore. Also, I think if you try the lighter weight stuff and have some luck you will really be hooked. Even if you ignore this and just buy gear to go salmon fishing, don't necessarily give up on fly rodding if you don't like that experience! Good luck!
