When an old timer introduced me to fly fishing he told me that once i tried it there's no turning back. You know what, he was right. It's been 6yrs. now and I must have used my spinning and bait casting rods 2 or 3 times out of those 6 yrs. I'm hooked on fly fishing. I first started out on a Martin fly rod combo with an automatic reel($40). After a weeks of prefecting my cast and catching large numbers of large mouth bass and big blue gills & crappies I went to the old timer and asked him to build me a custom made fly rod. I have 2 custom rods made by the old timer today. I also have about 3 or 4 other cheap fly rods and reels that I use regularly. The Martin auto-combo set up I still have and keep in my car just in case I see a nice forest preserve pond or lake around the Chicagoland area. I usually hang out in pit bull message boards and it's good to know that there is also a fly fishing message board.
