Hi guys. Same question different person I guess here.

BTW: Love my Renzetti vise - thanks for the previous advice.

I currently have a Sage 5wt with a Cortland reel on it and love it. But I want something a bit heavier so I'm going to get an 8wt this June or so. I've had my eye on the Cabela's FT combo with a large arbor SR (?) reel, line, etc. etc.
I've also looked at the St. Croix lines of rods, Legends I think, and like those also. I'm looking at the Cab's for the whole system because one gets the package almost ready to go.

If I were to go with the St. Croix, does anyone have a large arbor reel recommendation? I plan to use the outfit for bassin', carpin' (don't knock until you've tried it), light pike'n and some very light saltwater duty (until I get my 10 weight). I want the large arbor for less line memory and quicker pick up.

My budget is about 400 - 450 for the rod and reel, I'm looking to buy a good outfit without going the Orvis $1100 way (ouch).

Thanks for the advice. Now that the ice is gone I can put away the auger and get back on the water.

Good Fishing!!
