Who fished the C&R opener? Some friends and I headed up Friday night to the Central Sands area. Fished in the snow all day on Saturday. Skunked on the first stream, but caught a couple browns after lunch on the Pine. Steak dinner, lots of beer, good night of sleep and we were back at it on Sunday. It was about 8 degrees, but the sun was out which helped. A good hole on the Pine produced 5 Browns landed for me with another 4 that shook loose. Both friends hooked up that afternoon, but only one landed his fish: an 8 inch brown.

The fish took either a #14 bead-body scud in orange-ish tan (light tan antron blended with rusty-orange angora for dubbing) or a #14 BH Prince nymph. Most never left the water for the release. I've heard air that cold can damage gills quickly.

Despite breaking ice out of the guides every 4 casts and not being able to feel feet or hands, it was great to be out again. How did everyone else do?
