I have a friend with 5mm waders. He can't move well in them, too thick. Great for winter but that's all. I have 3mm Orvis neoprene and am happy with them. They do get a bit warm in the summer. I have just got a pair of Orvis Clearwater breathables and am looking forward to a cooler summer. My 3mm work well in our winters, Kansas City, Mo. We are fishing in 50 degree water and anywhere from 32 degrees to 50 degrees air temp in the winter. At 30 to 38 I get cold wearing 2 pair of socks, 2 sets of long underware, t-shirt, hooded sweatshirt and jacket. Perhaps I get cold easy. Anyhow, allow room for loose layers of clothes and do not cramp your feet, you will stay warmer. I met 2 people this winter that had bought Cabela waders and both and leaks. One man had exchanged 4 times and was giving up. Be careful. I have always had good luck with Orvis.
