: : : Looking for info on any good Carp ponds in the Chicagoland area. So far the clubs I am in have "discovered" Barth Pond and Lake Arlington. Does anyone know of any ponds in their area that hold Carp and have a good amount of shore line access?

: : : Thanks in advance

Oz, I can assure you 11 pounds would be considered small to the 2 that I witnessed at Pratt Wayne. I dont fish for carp but If I did I cant Imagine the fight those 2 would give anyone with any kind of gear. I actually might go back there sometime next year and give it a try.

: : Out of hundreds of ponds I have ever fished the biggest carp I have ever seen was out at Pratt Wayne Forest Preserve. While I was taking my son for a walk lo and behold we seen these 2 carp swimming side by side were MONSTERS. By far the biggest carp I have ever seen. The pond way in the back.

: Fished Pratt Wayne last year in a contest and caught two Carp, but they only 1 - 2lbs. With the gills thought, it did give me enough weight to win. Usually the 'smaller' Carp(2 - 3 lbs) are caught in our contests. With eleven or so anglers chumming it makes it harder to catch the bigger ones? I can only remember one double digit Carp being caught in about the three dozen matches I have been in. That Carp was an 11lber caught in Barth Pond in June. Not by me though ;-(
