I was at Blackwell earlier this year and saw a lot of small bass in the shallows that I couldn't get to strike for the life of me. We did get a few bass, but not a lot. I haven't been there in about a month, but it did seem a lot slower this year than in years past.
: Well folks, what is going on with Blackwell this year. I fished it several times this summer, but the fishing was nothing like it was the last five years. Last year I caught a lot of walleyes and big gills. Granted, the eyes were small, but none the less, we caught a lot of them, as well as the gills. This year it looks as if they killed all the weeds. All the weeds are yellow and brown. Last year there were many places where they grew to the surface. They were loaded with big gills. At night, we would go to the droppoffs by outside the weedlines and catch several walleyes. Not this year. I have only caught a handfull of nice gills and only a few walleye. Has anybody heard anything about Blackwell, or it just been a lousy year for the lake???
