Got a hot tip on some crappie action, so I grabbed the ultralight and a couple dozen minnows and headed to a pond located in the southwest suburbs. Inspite of being plagued with technical difficulties(an overfilled spool resulting in non stop birdsnests) and only having an hour or so to fish, I did spank 'em. No slabs but they weren't dinks either. They were all caught in a shallow bay.
All of 'em were on minnows. My buddy was messing around with a flyrod and got one on a pearl "Crystal Bugger" I tied for him. I was having a ball but I had to split.
