Sorry this post is so late. Fished the Cantera pond (Just west of the theatre) on Friday 8-28-98. I fished from about 2:15 to about 3:15 in the afternoon. (Would have fished longer but it was my 5 year wedding anniversary). Anyway, it looks like it will have some large bass potential. There are some areas with decent weed cover, and the water looks clean. In my hour or so there, I only landed 2 bass about 8" and 10" on the worlds best pond lure (Mepps). I hooked one on a carolina rig worm only to watch it come to the surface and spit the lure back at me. That fish looked like it may have been about 12-13". Soon after, the bugs were taking their toll and the wife was getting mad, so I had to leave.
The pond may never receive too much pressure, because the land around it slopes pretty steep in most areas, and the vegetation is tall and dense. This will turn off the casual angler. I say give this pond a couple of years, and it may produce some good size bass, as long as we Catch and RELEASE!
Good luck!
