: Sorry this post is so late. Fished the Cantera pond (Just west of the theatre) on Friday 8-28-98. I fished from about 2:15 to about 3:15 in the afternoon. (Would have fished longer but it was my 5 year wedding anniversary). Anyway, it looks like it will have some large bass potential. There are some areas with decent weed cover, and the water looks clean. In my hour or so there, I only landed 2 bass about 8" and 10" on the worlds best pond lure (Mepps). I hooked one on a carolina rig worm only to watch it come to the surface and spit the lure back at me. That fish looked like it may have been about 12-13". Soon after, the bugs were taking their toll and the wife was getting mad, so I had to leave.
: The pond may never receive too much pressure, because the land around it slopes pretty steep in most areas, and the vegetation is tall and dense. This will turn off the casual angler. I say give this pond a couple of years, and it may produce some good size bass, as long as we Catch and RELEASE!
: Good luck!

I was there (again) on Friday also, 7:30 - 10:00 in the evening.
I agree that this may be a spot to watch in the future providing it does not
get too much pressure and C&R is practiced.
The funny thing is that as my buddy was pulling in his 8th gill (out of 15)
he complained that "all there is in this hole is small gills", the words were
still hanging in the air as I hooked a 14" LM. I had fun waving that in his
face, the problem is that he would not leave until he caught one too.
Total of about 25 gills, 5 LM, 2 Bullheads, all using crawlers either jigged
off the bottom or on a slip bobber.
The bugs are fierce and the brush can be a pain, but it's close to home and has not skunked me yet.
Good Luck.
