I live in Northbrook, and fishing is kind of slow. (You'll understand the rest if you're real familiar with the town) Besides skokie lagoons there aren't many fishing holes. There is anetsburger, but thats been overfished and inapropriately taken care of.
Then there is the north branch of the chicago river. I've spotted a few 3-5lb carp but other than that the river is dead. Except I'm not sure about the part of the river that widens out by the dump off techny and waukegan. I've caught a few carp there but I'm pretty sure I've seen small bass jumping out of the water.
There is the murky lake shermerville over by wood oaks jr high. I've never really caught much out of there. One nice crappie, and a few nice bass. I've heard the catfish get huge there.
Perhaps the best local small lake is in the Ancient Tree complex. The guards are very strict and only let you fish if you're staying with someone there. But its worth it. I have seen amazingly (you're not going to believe me, but I don't blame you because I didn't believe it at first either) carp at least 40" long (they might be grass carp but I'm not familiar with them). I've caught one bass 7lbs and a few other 3-4lb bass all over summer '99.
Does anyone know anything about the fish, size and even other lakes in Northbrook. I'm willing to give up a few of my good spots for some info
