: I live in Northbrook, and fishing is kind of slow. (You'll understand the rest if you're real familiar with the town) Besides skokie lagoons there aren't many fishing holes. There is anetsburger, but thats been overfished and inapropriately taken care of.
: Then there is the north branch of the chicago river. I've spotted a few 3-5lb carp but other than that the river is dead. Except I'm not sure about the part of the river that widens out by the dump off techny and waukegan. I've caught a few carp there but I'm pretty sure I've seen small bass jumping out of the water.
: There is the murky lake shermerville over by wood oaks jr high. I've never really caught much out of there. One nice crappie, and a few nice bass. I've heard the catfish get huge there.
: Perhaps the best local small lake is in the Ancient Tree complex. The guards are very strict and only let you fish if you're staying with someone there. But its worth it. I have seen amazingly (you're not going to believe me, but I don't blame you because I didn't believe it at first either) carp at least 40" long (they might be grass carp but I'm not familiar with them). I've caught one bass 7lbs and a few other 3-4lb bass all over summer '99.
: Does anyone know anything about the fish, size and even other lakes in Northbrook. I'm willing to give up a few of my good spots for some info

I beleive you, I caught a 28 pound grass carp on 6 lb. test in the sumer in like 2 feet of water, i saw him sitting on the edge, so I put a treble hook with a chunk of bread on there. and he sucked it off the bottom. The grass carp are a huge minnow, I fish for carp once in a while in the summer, but i hate them, they pollute the lakes to much and mukky up the water when you wanna catch bass. well, if you want to catch those big suckers, I suggest you either use a dough ball or they sell a carp bait, but never caught a grass carp on carp bait, only on bread rolled up and put on the hook. With the carp bait I only catch big 20 pound common carp, but lots of small ones too. Well good luck, and if you want to make the pond you fish better for bass, KILL THE CARP!
Well, good luck fishing, and ---TIGHT-ICE-LINES---
Sincerely Dave
