: : Went with a bud Sunday and ice fished Tuma Lake. It was more of a lake status check than ice fishing, but both were accomplished. Dam is defintely beyond hope as just a section of concrete remains. Max depth was 7', so the fish do have a chance to survive throught the winter. Pulled up some weeds augering in the shallower sections, but have no idea what the max depth they might grow in. As for fishing(and no, I don't think it was legal to do so), caught some small Crappies & Green Sunfish. The keyword is small. Crappies averaged about 4'', Sunfish, about 2 - 3''. I believe the biggest fish caught was a Sunfish, about 5''. All fish were released. My bud had one green sunfish swallow his jig and then bite on his other rod. Greedy little bugger!

: : Mister X.

: I have fished Tuma before, during the summer months, and have caught a
: couple of decent smallies out of there along with a number of bullhead.
: I really hope the CCFP puts some money into this lake as I think it could
: be a decent fishery.

those smallies are probably green sunfish. i think that lake is a little too shallow to support a smallie population.
