I checked out 4 of my local lakes this morning and found the following...
AXEHEAD(Touhy and River Rd. Des Plaines) Closed for ice fishing. Open/Closed signs are posted at gates. Surprising there still is some OPEN WATER near east end of lake.
Bulleau(Busse Highway at 294 Des Plaines) Closed for ice fishing. Open/Closed signs posted at gates. Entire lake is frozen. Maybe open soon.
Beck(East River and Central Rd. Glenview) Closed for ice fishing. Open/Closed signs are posted at gates. There is some OPEN WATER at east end of Island.
Big Bend(Golf and East River Des Plaines) Entire lake frozen. Nobody out on ice. There is no signs posted at gate. Why no sign is posted is beyond me. Hopefully they will post a sign if it opens. Once again, you can't count on CCFPD. for ice fishing information. Many times when the lakes with Open/closed signs are open, they forget to change the signs.
