Oz,
Never fished, nor heard of songbird slough. I have heard of Willow Slough...awsome big bluegill lake. I was there this summer with a buddy and caught some of the biggest gills of my life. I used to live 40 minutes away from Willow Slough and ice fished it every weekend as a small boy and remember it being great. I was surprised to see how good it was when I went back this summer. To bad there are no lakes like that around here...at least none I have fished.

: : Was out on Sat. afternoon at a local dupage forest preserve. Wow, were the numbers there. Caught around 40 gills...to bad only a handfull would be considered keepers. Very strange, because in years past, I have knocked the hell out of big gills in this spot. Not many big ones. I caught everything on mousies and waxies with dark colored jigs. Gills biting very light. If you didn't have light line and your hook wasn't covered, you weren't catching a thing. Lots of guys.

: Always glad to hear good fishign reports :0) So far I am 0 for 99 LOL Did you ever fish Songbird Slough? The club I'm in has a match there on 02/28 and was wondering what kind of species etc are caught thru the ice(if it still exists then??). I fished in a few DuPage county lakes during the Ice fishing Tips & Tricks they use to run. Alas, never much luck at them, and I can't remember the lakes. The Tips & Tricks has been cancled due to poor ice conditions in previous years.
