Fished Sat. morning for gills. Started out slow with only a few nice gills and a lot of little ones, not to mention a ton of 6-12" bass. Was using an ice jig 3# test and small garden worm. It is a very productive method for most types of fish. I work it very similar to a plastic worm. I worked deep water, shallow water, weeds, etc. I almost left, but decided to hit one more spot. I am glad I did. I caught 25-30 big hand sized gills. It was a blast. Also caught a lot of small bass and a couple decent ones around 15" or 16". Blackwell is a funny lake. Most people who shore fish sit and wait for the fish to come to them. You really have to try all over and use different tactics/colors/baits/depths/etc. I will have to head back out after work this week.
