Day 1 of the US Open with 23 (or 24?) anglers going at it. We fished the south shoreline, on the south side of the lake. Just a few carp caught, with gills making up the bulk of the catch. Many of the gills were nice size(6 - 7''). Bullheads, golden roaches, bass(very few), catfish(even fewer) and green sunfish made up the rest of the catches. A few anglers had 15+ lbs of just gills & roaches. I was catching most of my gills within 15' of the shoreline in about 2' of water. Most were using spikes or waxies, but I seemed to have more bites on redworms. Fishing the north shoreline on the north side of the lake. Will the Carp cooperate??? At least the rains held off..
BTW, Lake Arlington catch and release only.
