Great day to call in sick at work today. Beautiful day! 73 degrees, no wind, barely any current and best of all.....no crowds.
I made it out to the lagoons later than I wanted (9:30), just as the morning walleye bite was starting to die down. I caught two within the first few minutes of arriving on a green/chartreuse jig and leech slowly worked back to shore. Not much in size, but it's like a moral victory to me seeing as how walleyes tend to disappear out of the CCFPD lakes in the summer, then mysteriously reappear at the end of Sept. Anyways the largest one was 14 inches, the other around 11. Also lost a couple more lite biters as the sun was starting to peek out from behind the trees and the clouds cleared. Next thing you know(like someone threw a switch) the bite was over just like that. Not a thing for a couple of more hours, unless you count about a hundred dink crappies.
I tried another spot further down toward Tower rd near lunchtime and pulled in 1 bass, 13 inches on a shallow rapala(Blue/silver) right at the outer edge of a large weedbed protruding out toward the main pool.
Great day to be out, too bad it's work again tomorrow.
