I stopped off at the Busse dam yesterday for a couple of hours after work. Unlike last week, I was the only one there this time so I had the whole area to scout and cast. I had no bait, so I thought I'd try my luck fishing twisters real slow.
The fish were very lethargic and sluggish, just barely biting. I felt two of them nibble but I tried setting the hook too fast and missed them. One fish did follow the bait to the surface, it looked like a walleye guessing around 18 inches. I Tried dropping the bait again but he wouldn't go for it again.
A while later I felt another one nibble, this time I let it take the twister for a second or two, but by the time I tried setting the hook it spit the twister out. (So much for Berkeley Power Bait's theory)
Before leaving right before dark I did manage to catch a small walleye, around 10 inches. Even catching that little guy was a load of work.
