April 3: Catchable trout season in Illinois opens, except in Cook County. Area waters include Silver Lake (DuPage County), Gebhard Woods pond (Grundy), Rock Creek in Kankakee River State Park and Bird Park Quarry (Kankakee), Big Lake at Silver Springs State Park (Kendall), Sand Lake at Illinois Beach State Park (Lake), Lake Atwood in the Hollows and Piscasaw Creek (McHenry) and Lake Milliken in the Des Plaines Conservation Area (Will). Note: In Cook County, the season opens April 10 at Axehead, Belleau and Sag Quarry East.
