Water levels around Busse are way down and the panfish are pretty active. I ended up speaking to a nice gentleman who was pulling in crappies consistently, one after the other. He seemed to know the lake very well and had been fishing it for years. He was using a small pencil float and a small jig with a tiny white twister. His trick was to cast the setup out into the current and twitch it quickly. I guess the erratic motion was enticing the crappies. Also saw a few others catching bullheads on bobbers and nightcrawlers by the dam face.

I was looking for walleyes, and it seems they've gotten lockjaw. Didn't catch any despite switching to every jig and twister combo in the box. I heard from that gentleman that as late spring and summer progress, they become harder and harder to catch in daylight hours. Best time is early spring for them.

Later I tried my luck sownstream by the beaver dam, and caught a small largemouth and a couple of bigger crappies on the twister combo. I saw a Polish man there with his wife catch a big carp using corn.
