Fished Busse Main again this afternoon. Lake is partially covered with skim ice,but the current areas are still have open water . Didn't see if the boat launches were open but I doubt it now that there's some ice on the lake. The water levels are down and water is extremely clear. That and the bright sun made for some tough fishing. No bites at all using a variety of lures along a deepwater shoreline current area, or around the edges of a sandy flat.
Once the sun went down the fishing picked up. Caught 2 walleyes within 15 minutes (11 and 19 inches) on a blue/white thunderstick worked slowly along the edge of the flat. The smaller one hit the bait pretty aggressively while twitching the lure back toward shore and put up a wild fight, while the bigger fish was a lot more lethargic and bit the lure after a couple of twitches and a long pause. Hope to get out again tomorrow.
