I think that there are some very big pike in Bode, as I have seen two 8 pounders come out of there in the last couple of years, and I only fish there maybe once a month or so. I have also seen many smaller pike swimming in the shallows while the bass and bluegill are spawning. Granted, I have not been able to pull a decent sized bass out of there (12" is the largest so far), but I do think that they exist in the lake.
As for using plastic worms, I have had absolutely zero luck with them in Bode Lake, but I don't fish plastics there often. Usually I go there to use the fly rod, which has out-produced everything I've used there, even live bait. I think the biggest challenge at Bode Lake is to find the bass in a location where you can get to them. Since you can't take a boat out there, you have a limited range, and I'm sure the big bass know that. Add in the fishing pressure, and it is a tough lake to fish, but I am sure there are some bonus prizes in there to be caught.
: I dont think there is anything big in Bode Lake! When I first moved to the area, i went to the bait shop that closed down on Golf/Higgins. They told me to buy their big (and expensive) minnows cuz there's a lot of Northern pike in Bode Lake,so they said. That baitshop owner lied thru his teeth! Anyways, i think you'd have better luck nearby at Beverly Lake. I have seen bass caught there.
