I'm sorry, did I come across as somebody who is completely ignorant about turkey hunting? I must apologize then for not telling you the rest of the story. I applied for site specific permits in other counties but never won the first or second lottery. When applying for the third lottery I noticed they added a turkey season for McHenry County, the first one it has ever had, so I figured I'd apply since it was close to home. When asked why I want to hunt turkey if I've never hunted them before, I tell you that I do it for the challenge and that getting a bird would be a bonus for me. I would rather sit in the woods all day, or until 1:00, than be anywhere else. I suppose I should have found places to hunt before hand, but I never intended to hunt in this county to begin with, so why would have I been looking for land here? I also tell you that it is my prefrence to use a gun to turkey hunt. The only reason I even considered using a bow and arrow is for the fact that people may not like the idea of someone toting a shotgun around their property in one of the fastest growing counties in Illinois. Many people hear the word firearm and they think of all kinds of negative things. Maybe they would be more likely to let me hunt then with bow and arrow. And it kind of sounds like you're jealous, WackO, that I got a permit. Did you not get a permit? And I never had any intention of hunting any kind of park or private property without permission. If I was going to do that why would I even bother getting a permit since I'd be tresspassing and breaking the law already? Heck, why even wait for the season to begin? I do have respect for game laws and truly belive there is good reason for them to be in place. You know, I accept the responses I got to my post, but what really upset me was the statement advising me to stay at home learning to knit because it would be a benefit everybody else. Forget what you say WackO, what does it matter what you say anyway? All you are to me is a screen name. I am just going to have to go out there and give it a shot. So at least I'll have given it a try. I'm outta here, I've wasted enough time already.

Kris
