It appears that chronic wasting disease has found its way too close to home (just acroos the border in Wisconsin). For those of you who don't know what this disease is, its similiar to "mad cow" but effects elk, mule deer and now evidently whitetails. I hope this doesn't ruin the one really good outdoor resource we have in this state. Can this be God's way of punishing those individuals who charge vast amounts of money for people to hunt their land?? Will these people be responsible for people who contract this disease fromeating deer from their property??
I hope our DNR Biologist can prevent this deisease from spreading, so our children can someday experience the great hunts we have been fortunate enough to partake in, in recent times. There is a column in the Sunday paper (Suntimes for sure) on this issue. Keep a look out for strange behaving deer while searching for sheds.
