Well Dave you got the crappies and I got the walleyes.
Due to the wife being out of town I wasn't able to head north with Dave B.
I was able to get to the Fox river though.
Some nice big perch in the 9-10 inch range. The walleyes weren't quite as big today but I did mange to get 40 for 5 hours fishing. Swedish pimples and homemade jigs each with spikes. Keeping the spikes very fresh was necessary. Even if I had only gotten 1 walleye on some, I had to replace them. If I didn't get any action for 1-15 minutes or so, I had to put on fresh spikes to get them to hit.
The river current changes back and forth and it is best if you can stay right on the edge of the stronger current. This means having several different holes to move around to. Sitting in one place will get them as they move around with the current but to get steady action throughout the day moving around is necessary.
Only a slight jigging action worked best. A flasher is definitely a plus!
