: Dave,
I did get lucky and have the school stay put for a while. I did however have to
move to other holes (usually the hole right next to me) from time to time.
You asked about the jig I was using and I would love to share it with you and
others. It's my favorite jig for fishing crappies through the ice. If you find
the schools it usually will out fish any type of live bait. Are you familiar
with a nail tail? It's nothing more than a mini mite without the little nub on the
tail. If you can't find nail tails the mini mite will work almost as well. A pink
jig head with a white plastic tail is my favorite, but almost any combination such
as green head with white tail or green head with green tail will do.
Hope my little tip helps! When the school is there it's nice not to have to keep
putting bait on the hook.

P.S. - Hey, Scout, I park right next to Pink Harrison at the Oak Park Hotel.
: . By the way, if you can believe it, I didn't use a single piece of
: : live bait all day. I used only a jig. Man were they aggressive.

: Catching that many crappies in such a short period of time it sounds like the crappies must have stayed put for you...unlike what we've been faced with each time out I'm not questioning your report but curious if the crappies finally sat still one day!:-) How many did you wind up with for the day? Lastly, care to describe the jig that was producing so well? I wouldn't be worried about being able to get out again this weekend...the ice should be fine.
