Fished Pistakee today along with a whopping 4-6 other people. Actually until around 11 o'clock there was just me and one other guy. The crappies were spread out again. Some were as shallow as 15 feet on the morning. Late morning and afternoon they were from 22-25 feet. Spikes and/or white rubber strips did the trick. 47 crappies, 13 channel cats and more small, 4-7 inch white bass than I cared to keep track of. The white bass were on the bottom in 28 feet. I was able to stay away from the drum. ;-) In fact I only saw 2 caught while I was there. I didn't hang around for the sundown bite. Most of the crappies were in the 11-13 inch range and the cats were 1-2 pounders. Late in the afternoon I saw 2 small walleyes caught. During the late morning and afternoon sloooooow time, small minnows would help.
Really a nice day out there with the fog hanging around for quite a while.
Ice is still good with around 10 inches left. Planks over the open water at shore are still reaching the ice. One angler mentioned that in Mineola Bay you can't get out to the ice.
