Went out Thursday morning and met Doug on the ice. (nice to meet you again Doug!)
Anyway, I'm glad that Doug was out there to chat with because the fish were certainly
not cooperating that day. We were marking fish all over the place from early morning
until about 11AM but, getting them to bite was another thing. I'll bet that between
us we probably only landed 15 crappie. Even those pesty little white bass were not
as easy to catch as they usually are.
In our defense, there was a cold front that came through that day that really messed
with the the fish. It was next to impossible to get them to bite. And the wind, that
was another thing all by itself. No way could you think of putting your shack up,
you would blow right off the lake. I got up from my seat for a second and it blew
right across the whole lake. A second later, I put my ice scoop down and the same
thing, bye bye ice scoop.
We moved in near shore and fished a brush pile for a bit and managed to catch a
few small bluegills and perch.
All in all it was a fun day anyways. Like they say a bad day fishing is better
than a good day at work.
BTW - If anyone is planning on doing any ice fishing in the near future, I would
get it done this weekend. The main slab is in great shape, but getting out to it
will be next to impossible next week without a boat.
Enjoy!
