: Went out Thursday morning and met Doug on the ice. (nice to meet you again Doug!)

: Anyway, I'm glad that Doug was out there to chat with because the fish were certainly
: not cooperating that day. We were marking fish all over the place from early morning
: until about 11AM but, getting them to bite was another thing. I'll bet that between
: us we probably only landed 15 crappie. Even those pesty little white bass were not
: as easy to catch as they usually are.

: In our defense, there was a cold front that came through that day that really messed
: with the the fish. It was next to impossible to get them to bite. And the wind, that
: was another thing all by itself. No way could you think of putting your shack up,
: you would blow right off the lake. I got up from my seat for a second and it blew
: right across the whole lake. A second later, I put my ice scoop down and the same
: thing, bye bye ice scoop.

: We moved in near shore and fished a brush pile for a bit and managed to catch a
: few small bluegills and perch.

: All in all it was a fun day anyways. Like they say a bad day fishing is better
: than a good day at work.

: BTW - If anyone is planning on doing any ice fishing in the near future, I would
: get it done this weekend. The main slab is in great shape, but getting out to it
: will be next to impossible next week without a boat.

: Enjoy!

It was a very good thing that I met Dave on Thursday. The fishing talk was much better than the fishing for the day. I think we somewhat got spoiled on the very agressive bite over the last few weeks.

I second the comment on the wind. I put up my tent in the morning before I met Dave. The wind was so strong that I could not even stay stationary over the holes. It was extremely windy to say the least. I believe you can purchase some type of ice stakes for your tent. Has anyone used any type of stakes for the winding days on the ice?

The shoreline was in real bad shape on Thursday morning. Be very careful getting out on the ice. The planks are not very stable. I do not know how long the ice that is actually supporting the planks will be around especially with the warmer weather.

Happy Fishing

Doug
